Boracay 2015: Arrival

Gorgeous turquoise sea, sun and sand at Boracay
My siblings and I planned our annual family vacation at Boracay, a famous Philippine beach known for its powdery white sand and gorgeous sunsets.  We booked the plane tickets early this year and scored some pretty good deals from the local low cost carrier, Cebupacific.  My Tripadvisor search led me to Orchids Resort at Station 3. Reservation was made via sms while waiting at the Manila airport.  The place is a practical choice for big groups, with basic amenities that suited us fine.

Boracay remains a great beach despite years of commercialism.  Still have that powdery sand that I've never experienced so far in Malaysia and in Bali.  Majestic sunsets bid our days the whole time we were there.

Everyone's excited aboard Cebupacific.
Touchdown Kalibo airport.
Used Southwest Tours for our roundtrip Kalibo-Boracay transportation.   The company managed the bus + ferry + van transport after we picked up our luggages.  They dropped us off at our resort and made arrangements for our return pickup.  Very convenient!
Onboard the 2-hour bus trip to Boracay with these two cuties.
The ferry boat that took us to the island.

From the ferry, a van took us to our resort.
Orchids Resort is at Station 3, a 2 minute walk from the white beach.  We purposely chose Station 3, the most quiet and laid back along the 7km white beach of Boracay, to ensure good sleep for the younger kids and the senior ladies.  There were no partygoers in our group, we all wanted peace and quiet for this trip.
Well maintained gardens.
The door and balcony of our 2 story hut.

Room interiors include 10 single bamboo beds with mattress, cogon walls and ceilings.  This 10-bed family hut is a great bargain, only P3,200 a night during low season!
One of the huts beside ours had a hammock, neat!  During low season, this fan cooled hut costs only P800.
